Love Local: A New Limited-Release Series
We are stoked to announce our new small-batch series, Love Local. Love Local is a limited-release series of experimental beers that will be available exclusively at our Salt Lake Taproom. A few times a year, we will be releasing these 16 oz cans with labels designed by local artists and five taphandles at our Taproom will be pouring Love Local beers year-round. This series is a love letter to our Salt Lake City community, to express our love for our city and the rad people in it.
The inaugural beer in our Love Local series is Impermanence, a Belgian Style Golden Strong Ale (8% ABV). Luke Dykes, Brewery Operations Manager, explained that they chose the unusual style because “a while back, we used to make a similar beer that we all really loved–it was a staff favorite,” so the crew is excited to bring the style back to the Taproom. Impermanence will be the first Love Local beer released in 16 oz cans. To further include our community in this project, each canned beer will have a label designed by a local artist. The incredible art for Impermanence was done by Jefferson Jasper, a tattoo apprentice at Anchor Tattoos in Salt Lake. Not only is this series for our local community, but is in-part created by our local community.
Coming in at a whooping 8% ABV, Impermanence will not be just our first Love Local beer, but also the first one to be released in 16 oz cans. Dykes plays a vital role in making Love Local happen. One of the motivations for creating the series is to strengthen our connection with our local community, Dykes says. Love Local gives us the chance to share our passion for great beers with local craft beer lovers. Because Love Local will be brewed on a much smaller scale than the rest of our beers, it also offers our brewers more opportunity to experiment in the brewhouse. Each Love Local brew will be created, named, and designed by our brewery production staff.
Wasatch and Squatters have been in Utah for over 30 years, with both now operating together out of Salt Lake. For years, we have involved ourselves in our local community who continues to show up for us after all this time. We wanted to thank our community for their continued support through the Love Local series. We are so excited to see what our brewers create, and equally excited to share these beers with Salt Lake City. Keep an eye on our social media pages for updates on both can and tap Love Local releases, and stop by your friendly neighborhood taproom to try Love Local for yourselves.
